Temporary Residence after a Disaster

To meet the immediate housing needs, schools, communities, parks, gerocomiums, branches of the Red Cross Society, and volunteer agencies will provide temporary shelters for victims who cannot return home after the disaster.

Pay close attention to updated information about shelters from the radio, the TV, or the website of the Emergency Management Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province—www.gdemo.gov.cn.

Government Subsidies

Under the united leadership of the local government, the local Civil Affairs Department together with the Construction Department and the Land and Resources Department, will set the subsidy standards for recovery and reconstruction according to practical conditions and specific situations. The subsidy standards for particular households will be posted. Following this, the Civil Affairs Department at the county level will deliver unified subsidy certificates for recovery and reconstruction to the households with verified rebuilding permits. Disaster victims with the subsidy certificates will, in accordance with their house rebuilding progress, receive subsidies in cash or materials, the details of which will be recorded in the certificates each time. So far, the provincial subsidies for households whose house have been completely destroyed are 5000 yuan RMB. The municipal and county government will also provide certain subsidies according to the local financial situations and conditions.

Preferential Policies for House Rebuilding

According to the degree of disaster damage, the local government will formulate preferential policies on rebuilding victims' homes and other relevant tax relief.
