Angiostrongyliasis

Angiostrongyliasis is infection with larvae of worms of the genus angiostrongylus; intestinal symptoms or eosinophilic meningitis occurs depending on the infecting species.


Symptoms: headache, fever, stiffness of neck, paralysis of facial nerve system. Severe cases can result in dementia even death.

 

Tips:


 ·When above-mentioned symptoms appear, consult the doctor immediately.
 ·Assist with epidemic research and investigation.

 

Suggestions:


 ·Snail food manufacturing workers and chefs should take protective measures against the disease.
 ·When heated above 80℃, the angiostrongylus worms could be killed.
 ·Do not eat aquatic food, such as fish, snail, shrimp, and crab, before they are thoroughly cooked.
