As reported by Guangdong Meteorological Service, this year’s No.22 typhoon “Mangkhut” (strong typhoon level) has landed on the coastal areas of Haiyan town, Taishan, Jiangmen city at 5:00 p.m. on September 16. The maximum wind force near its center reaching Level 14 (45 meters per hour). It is predicted that “Mangkhut” will move west by north at the speed of 25-30 kilometers and the intensity will gradually weaken. After passing through Yangjiang city and Maoming city, it will move out of Guangdong province on the early morning of September 17, but will still bring strong wind and rainfall to Guangdong. At 8:00 p.m. on September 16, Prevention Headquarters of Flood, Drought, and Typhoon of Guangdong degraded the Level I emergency response to wind prevention to Level II; at 5:00 p.m. on September 16, Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs upgraded the Level III emergency response to disaster relief to Level II; while the Provincial Emergency Office for Major Meteorological Disasters maintains the Level I emergency response to meteorological disaster (typhoon).
