The Emergency Management Office of the People's Government of Guangdong held its first work meeting on Feb 21 and 22 in Guangzhou.

According to the meeting, the province has been enhancing its emergency management capacity in line with its schedule, and by the end of 2007, a multi-level emergency reaction system has been established. And the fighting against snow havoc before lunar new year has proved that the system has effectively improve the province's emergency management.

In 2008, the province's emergency management units will focus on improvement of the multi-level emergency reaction system, set up of an assessment system, organizing trainings for staff and the public, and the related regional cooperation.
